If you've found our page you're probably here for one of two reasons: 1) you're a TVR owner looking for a community of owners willing to help each other and have fun, or 2) you heard the name TVR or saw one and wanted to learn more about these rare British cars. If you're part of the first group, why not sign up for a membership and then check out our technical articles available to club members. If you're part of the second group, you can start with "What's a TVR?" and work your way through some information on the various models and history of TVR in North America. Either way, thanks for checking out our site and we hope you find what you're looking for. What's Happening on Facebook? Featured Photo Mark Schaefer's 1971 TVR Vixen 2500. Have a car you'd like to see here? E-mail us a photo and the details. Final Woodwork Update We're three days from the start of Woodwork 2018 and I just wanted to pass on some final details. Event packets will be available at the hotel for those who are coming in from out of town and at the TVR Breakfast for those who are local. For those who are interested in the cookout at TVRCCNA Secretary Jeff Loss's house on Friday evening, we will meet in the lobby of the hotel at 5pm to head over to Jeff's place. We'll drive in a caravan but I'll also have directions for folks in case we get split up. Everything else is on track, weather seems to be holding so far (storms Thursday and Saturday afternoon, clearing out before the show on Sunday) but we're planning contingencies in case things get bad. Hope to see you in a few days!    –Hayden Woodwork Update #2 We're two weeks away from Woodwork 2018 and the final details are coming together. Online pre-registration has closed for the Original British Car Day show, so if you haven't registered yet then you can register at the gate on the day of the show. However, PLEASE make sure you sign up now for the banquet so we can be sure to have enough food. Also, TVRCCNA secretary Jeff Loss is hosting a cookout on Friday night for anyone who's in town by then so please email him and let him know if you're coming so he can make enough BBQ. I'm sure many of you have heard the alleged horrors of DC traffic, so we've put together a set of directions that should get you to the hotel with the least trouble possible. Safe travels and we'll see you all in two weeks!    –Hayden Midwest Region Spring Update It has come to our attention that the Midwest Region's spring update arrived too late for the Spring 2018 issue of the TVR Times. Our apologies, it can be downloaded here . Woodwork Update We are on track for Woodwork 2018, which will be held 2-3 June 2018 in the Washington, DC area in conjunction with The Original British Car Day. Because that show is on a Sunday we are changing things up, with events including a cruise and the banquet on Saturday, followed by the show on Sunday. Click here for more details and to register for the event! As most regular Woodwork attendees know, every few years we try to arrange for a special guest to join us and share unique aspects of the history of TVR. Over the years we’ve had insight from two separate owners of TVR, US importers, and factory workers each sharing their unique experience being a part of what makes TVR great. This year’s guest is no exception. Our special guest this year is John Reid, of Readman Racing and the Dunlop TVR European Challenge . We don’t want to give away all of John’s story now, but here's a teaser: John started engineering race cars in 1968, racing his own 100cc International kart with a bit of success, moving on to Formula Ford and then back to 250cc karts. He sold his karts and moved to South Africa in 1975 where he worked as an electronic & mechanical engineer until he setup Readman Racing with a friend (Johan Weidermann, Read Man) which made parts for racing motorcycle teams for about 5 years before moving into historic car racing with a 1956 Lotus Eleven, a Brabham BT11, and a TVR Vixen which raced in the longer races at Kyalami Transvaal and Killarney Cape Town. During this time John also purchased a Lola T210 which he & a very good friend renovated, using alloy body panels they made in the University of the Free State with the pathology department’s band saw (normally used to dissect bodies). John left South Africa in late 1990 and returned to the UK where he started work as Chief Engineer of the TVR Racing Division in February 1991. After three months Peter Wheeler said the Tuscan Challenge race series was failing so it was John’s to make or break. At this time the race preparation for the cars was poor and the cars were frequently breaking. John revamped the workshop processes to increase reliability and make sure TVR had a winning team and the best cars racing out there, pushing the number of competitors from 12 cars on the grid to 43 cars racing. The Tuscan Challenge by the late 90’s and early 2000s was the best race series in Europe. TVR stopped racing in 2005 and John took over the series, which he merged with the TVRCC Challenge Cup to form the Dunlop TVR European Challenge. The TVR European Challenge is celebrating its 29th year of single-marque racing in 2018, and John still keeps everything top notch. -- Warning: Book your Woodwork hotel room NOW We have just been informed by the Park Inn Harrisburg West (our hotel for Woodwork 2016) that the Fireman's Convention that was not supposed to be the same weekend as Woodwork is now conflicting with Woodwork again. The hotel is running out of rooms so book now or you might be staying at another hotel. The cut off date for our block of rooms is Thursday 4/21/16 Book now !!! A message from the Toronto Triumph Club On this, the 70th anniversary of the founding of TVR, the Toronto Triumph Club is looking forward to welcoming the TVR Car Club North America and its members to British Car Day. TTC is pleased to report that we have made room on the field for approximately 40 TVRs in a prominent location just south of the registration area. By the way if you have folks staying overnight in the area, our partner, visit Oakville has negotiated some great hotel rates which can be viewed here . If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thanks!    –Dave Sims     Chairman, British Car Day TVRCCNA Fall Event Update We are just under two months until British Car Day at Bronte Creek. I hope to see a solid turn out this year as we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of TVR. We are also celebrating the re-birth of TVR, with an unveiling at the Goodwood Revival. If you aren't at the Revival you have to be at British Car Day! We are still working on final plans for Saturday, at present we are hoping to go in...
